Ritual: Ingredient Art Direction

Ritual’s ingredients are central to how the brand communicates transparency and traceability. Appearing across packaging, e-commerce, PDPs, social, and educational content, the ingredient imagery are an important extension of Ritual products themselves.

An existing group of ingredient imagery needed to be refreshed and I saw this as an opportunity to rethink how we could represent ingredients. The challenge was to create a distinctive language that could make each ingredient feel considered, recognizable, and inherently Ritual, while still functioning as a flexible visual library across channels.

I art directed a series of stylized ingredient portraits inspired by the intersection of science and beauty. Working across liquids, oils, powders, and materials, I developed unique compositions and arrangements that highlighted the character of each ingredient. Every detail of the execution was considered, from composition and material behavior to scale, texture, and presentation. The goal was for each ingredient to feel almost editorial: photogenic and elevated, yet honest to the material itself.
